According to data recently released by the Ministry of Finance, national general public budget expenditures have continued to grow. From January to May, total general public budget spending reached 11.2953 trillion yuan, up 4.2% year on year. Fiscal authorities at all levels have intensified spending, optimized the expenditure structure, and consistently strengthened financial support for key priority areas.
Specifically, social security and employment expenditures totaled 2.0054 trillion yuan, up 9.2% year on year; education expenditures reached 1.7455 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.7%; health and wellness expenditures amounted to 889.6 billion yuan, up 3.9%; science and technology expenditures stood at 360.9 billion yuan, up 6.5%; housing security expenditures were 330.3 billion yuan, up 2.1%; energy conservation and environmental protection expenditures came in at 200.7 billion yuan, up 6%; and cultural, tourism, sports, and media expenditures totaled 138.2 billion yuan, up 5.4%. Meanwhile, the issuance and utilization of local government special bonds and ultra‑long‑term special treasury bonds have accelerated, helping relevant projects get off the ground and deliver results sooner.
